Authentic Melton Mowbray Pork Pies

AUTHENTIC MELTON MOWBRAY PORK PIES - AWARD WINNER
The recipe for our ‘Authentic Melton Mowbray Pork Pies’ dates back to 1853 - delicious then and delicious now.

We start by carefully making the very best hot water crust pastry, bringing boiling water and lard together then pouring onto strong wheat flour, with a little sea salt to taste. This is then allowed to rest overnight ready for pie making - no rushing!

We only use fresh shoulder joint cuts for our pies, all from British pigs, hand seasoned to our family recipe. Wonderful, tasty, savoury jelly fills the pie, made from the juices of the slowly simmered trotter stock. Baked to perfection, the result is rich golden brown pastry with its characteristic belly shape which, when cut open, reveals the succulent uncured pork with a peppery aftertaste, surrounded by soft jelly stock. Delicious eaten cold on its own or with a crisp salad, washed down with a glass of real ale. Quite simply England’s finest.

Our classic Pork Pie recipe with the addition of a tasty newcomer - locally made Blue Stilton Cheese. Rich, crunchy pork pie with creamy Blue Stilton makes a perfect combination, blending the classic tastes of the Vale of Belvoir. Enjoy with a traditional glass of real ale.

Game Pie

GAME PIE
For real game lovers! This delicious pie brings together three great tasting meats, Venison, Rabbit and Wood Pigeon, carefully seasoned with sea salt and white pepper for a distinctive taste experience. The strong flavours of the meat dance on the tongue, melting into the softness of the jelly stock and the delicious crumble of perfect hot water crush pastry. Pie heaven! A glass of red wine or beer is a great mate!

PORK, CHICKEN & APRICOT
A layered pie, fusing four delicious tastes all in one glorious pie. Uncured pork, fresh chicken breast and sun dried apricots, surrounded by golden pastry. A visual delight when sliced and will grace any banquet.

TURKEY AND CRANBERRY
Fresh turkey breast, cranberries soaked in zingy orange zest and juice. A great mix of the fruity tastes and turkey, just like Christmas all in one pie!

HOT MEAT PIES

A mouthwatering range of hot eating pies - satisfying, succulent and very moreish. Special care is taken with our homemade cold water pastry, using a mix of lard and pastry butter with a little sea salt for taste.

Only the best British fresh meats are used, slowly cooked for a richer, fuller flavour and individually seasoned to offer a variety of great taste experiences. Four flavours are on offer.....
